WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS SITE?
Rate Your Vet is an online hub for animal lovers! Veterinarians play a big role in keeping our animals healthy. Not all veterinarians are created equal and so this site aims to provide you with the information necessary to find the best veterinarian for your animal. We believe that by providing a place for people to voice their opinion you can help others looking for the right veterinarian- rather than being stuck going to the closest one down the street (which may or may not be for you!).

HOW MUCH IS IT TO USE THIS SITE?
It’s FREE to rate your vet! This is in line with our policy to keep this as a hub to air your opinions and get the most out of your vet.
The running and maintenance of this site is funded from donations and occasional advertising. Reviewers and personal use of the site is and will always be free.
DO I HAVE TO PROVIDE PRIVATE INFORMATION? I DON’T WANT ANY TROUBLE FROM MY VET!
In most cases, you are NOT required to provide personal information to use RateYourVet, however, by creating an account you will have greater access to various features of the site and be able to receive prizes in our giveaways. Rating of some veterinarians may be limited to account holders only, especially if we notice any unusual ratings activity.
HOW DO I FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT A VETERINARIAN?
Veterinarians in New Zealands are regulated by the Veterinary Council of New Zealand. If you have any concerns about your vet you can contact them directly or let us know and we can guide you through the process.
HOW DOES THE RATING WORK?
All categories are based on a 5 point rating system, with 5 being the best. The Overall Quality rating is the average of the ratings. Please only rate places which you have first-hand knowledge of.
Comments should be about your personal outcome and/or customer-service related issues. New ratings are reviewed, and we reserve the right to delete comments or an entire rating. We recommend that you don’t be too harsh when rating a veterinarian’s punctuality as it is generally not something they have much control of!
Allegations of illegal activity should generally be substantiated by including a link to a newspaper article or court case. Ratings containing defamatory remarks, profanity or threats of violence will be removed.

WHAT DO VETERINARIANS THINK OF THIS SITE?
Well, that depends upon the veterinarian! We get a lot of feedback from veterinarians telling us they like the site, and how the site has helped them. We also get some emails telling us how inappropriate the site is, and how they are going to shut us down.
We believe accountability is a big part of being a professional veterinarian and so this site aims to provide the New Zealand public with some transparency into the industry.
HOW DO I REMOVE MY DETAILS FROM THIS SITE?
If it is a valid listing, it will not be removed. If the listing is fake or inaccurate, please let us know.
HOW TO I EDIT MY RATINGS?
This site is for people to report on their experiences with you thus we generally do not remove ratings. By claiming your listing or signing up for a veterinarian account you will be granted exclusive access to edit your listing details and flexibility to review and respond to your ratings. Ratings with containing defamatory remark, profanity or threats of violence will be removed.
IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE A RATING I WILL SUE YOU!
The ratings on this site are written by our users, not by us. Thus we are not the “publisher or speaker” of the ratings, even if they contain false information and we are not liable for defamation, libel, fraud or any other claim you might bring. You might dispute the truth of a review, but your disputing it does not make it false. You are always free to post a public response to any review on this site.
I DISAGREE WITH MY RATING. HOW DO I CHANGE IT?
The best thing you can do is to tell your clients about this site. Take pride in your rating, and encourage them to spread the word about the good work you’ve done for them. You can post links to our site on yours, put the link in your email signature, or even email your client mailing list about the site.
We use automated algorithms and human moderators to detect and remove phony reviews. Posing as a client or hiring an outside agency to post positive ratings is a practice known as “astroturfing”- it is illegal and you may end up paying hefty fines.
Rate Your Vet Usage License:
This is the Terms of Use Agreement (“ToU Agreement ”) for www.rateyourvet.co.nz (“Site,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This ToU Agreement applies whether you are accessing the Site via a personal computer, a mobile device or any other technology or devices now known or hereafter developed or discovered (each, a “Device”) and whether you are accessing the Site as a registered user (if offered by the Site) or other user of the Site. This ToU Agreement will remain in full force and effect, even if your use of or participation in the Site or any particular service, feature, function or promotional activity offered through the Site terminates, expires, ceases, is suspended or deactivated for any reason. If you do not agree with this ToU Agreement, please do not participate in the Site or any features, activities or services offered through the Site.
The Site is designed and targeted to New Zealand audiences. By participating in our Site activities, you certify that you meet the age and other eligibility requirements for this Site as set forth in our ToU Agreement. If you do not meet the age and other eligibility requirements, please discontinue using the Site immediately.
By using this Site, participating in any Site activities and/or providing us with your Personal Information and Other Information, you (i) consent to the transfer and/or processing of any Information to and, (ii) understand that we will collect, transfer, store, process and/or deal with your Information in accordance with this ToU Agreement and New Zealand law. When we use the term “Personal Information” we mean information that would allow someone to identify you or contact you, such as your full name, postal address, e-mail address or telephone number. When we use the term “Other Information”, we mean any information other than Personal Information that may be collected about you (Personal Information and Other Information, together, the “Information”).
We may also provide you with access to certain features or functions that we may offer on the Site, such as the option to subscribe to a selection of free email newsletters and other periodic information, chat rooms, message boards, electronic mail services, messaging services, auctions, shopping, registration and member profile pages. To sign up for or participate in these features or functions, you may be required to provide us with certain Information about you in order for us to personalize and/or allow you to use such features and functions.
